Barcode Scanner Manufacturer with development & Invention ability
A scanner that works well on a desk may not start scanning after it is installed inside a dark kiosk. Before changing the scanner, first check whether the problem is barcode reading or automatic triggering.
These are two different steps. The scanner must first detect that a barcode is present. It then turns on its light and reads the code.
Many compact scanner modules use image changes to detect a barcode or object. This works well when there is enough light around the scanning window.
Inside a closed kiosk, the camera may not see enough change to start scanning. Once the scanner light is turned on, it may read the barcode normally. This means the decoding performance is not the real problem—the scanner simply did not wake up.
A deep panel opening can make the problem worse. It may reduce outside light and block part of the scanner’s viewing area.
For low-light equipment, there are two practical choices.
IR automatic sensing is suitable when the scanner needs to detect a phone, card or product by itself. XTIOT XT203BM has three IR emitters and one IR receiver. It can detect an object in front of the scanner without depending on visible light.
Serial command control is suitable when the kiosk software already knows when scanning should start. The host sends a command, the scanner turns on its light and reads the barcode. This avoids depending on image sensing in a dark enclosure.
XTIOT XT206H1 and XT206H3 support serial command control and configuration. They can be used when the kiosk software controls the scanning process.
A phone screen gives off light, but this does not guarantee reliable automatic triggering. Screen brightness, reflection, viewing angle and the kiosk window can still affect detection and reading.
For mobile QR codes, payment codes and long-data QR codes, a higher-resolution module gives the scanner more image detail. XT206H1 and XT206H3 use a 1280 x 800 CMOS image sensor and are suitable for screen barcode applications.
XT206H1 is compact and has pre-applied double-sided adhesive around the scanning window. It can be fixed close to the kiosk panel without an extra mounting bracket.
XT206H3 has a built-in acrylic front window and mounting holes. It is suitable when the kiosk needs a covered scanner module with screw mounting.
The scanner should be tested inside the finished kiosk, not only on an open desk. The test should include:
The darkest expected operating condition
The final panel and protective window
The actual installation depth
Paper barcodes and phone screen QR codes
Automatic sensing or software command triggering
If the scanner reads correctly after its light turns on but does not start automatically, choose XT203BM for IR sensing or use an XTIOT command-controlled module such as XT206H1 or XT206H3. The right choice depends on how the kiosk starts each scanning process.
