The barcode of the book records the information of the book, and the name of the book and other information can be known by scanning the barcode. The barcode of the book is consistent with the ISBN number. One book number corresponds to one barcode. The book number will not be repeated, and the barcode will not be repeated. The barcode is managed by the CIP data management center of the Chinese version library. The barcode of the book is also applied for by the publisher in the CIP data management center according to the ISBN number. After the application, you can use barcode generation software to generate batches. The prerequisite for generating book barcodes is that you must have an ISBN number to generate them.

The 13-digit barcode at the back of each book is the Chinese Standard Book Number, and its structure is divided into 5 parts:

1. EAN/UCC prefix: the product identification code provided by the International Article Numbering (EAN/UCC) system to the International ISBN Center. The currently used prefix is 978, and the 979 prefix is reserved at the same time.

2. Group area code: identifies the organization divided by country, geographical region, language and other social groups. Set and assigned by the International ISBN Center, the group number in our country is a single digit 7.

3. Publisher number: identifies the specific publisher, and its length is 2 to 7 digits, set and assigned by the China ISBN Center.

4. Publisher serial number: identifies the publication sequence of publications, managed and assigned by the publisher. It is used to distinguish thematic publications with different content and different forms.

5. Check code: It is calculated by a modulus 10 weighted algorithm, and its function is to check whether the Chinese standard book number is correct or not.
