It is said that RFID radio frequency identification is a non-contact automatic identification technology. It automatically identifies target objects and obtains relevant data through radio frequency signals. The identification work does not require manual intervention and can work in various harsh environments. RFID technology can identify high-speed moving objects and identify multiple tags at the same time, which is fast and convenient to operate.

Short-range RF products are not afraid of harsh environments such as oil stains and dust pollution, and can replace barcodes in such environments, such as tracking objects on the factory assembly line. Long-distance radio frequency products are mostly used in traffic, and the identification distance can reach tens of meters, such as automatic toll collection or identification of vehicle identity.

Application of RFID Technology

a. In the retail industry, the application of barcode technology enables tens of thousands of commodity types, prices, origins, batches, shelves, inventory, etc.

b. The use of automatic vehicle identification technology enables road bridges, parking lots and other charging places to avoid the phenomenon of vehicles queuing for customs clearance and reduce time waste, thereby greatly improving the efficiency of transportation and the capacity of transportation facilities;

c. In the automated production line, all aspects of the entire product production process are placed under strict monitoring and management;

d. In harsh environments such as dust, pollution, cold, heat, etc., the application of long-distance RFID technology improves the inconvenience of truck drivers having to get off the car to go through the formalities;

e. In the operation and management of buses, the automatic identification system accurately records the arrival and departure times of vehicles at each station along the line, providing real-time and reliable information for vehicle scheduling and whole-process operation management.

What benefits will RFID technology bring to enterprise logistics and supply chain management?

Electronic label is a tool to improve identification efficiency and accuracy, and this technology will completely replace barcode.

Take Nokia, a well-known mobile phone manufacturer, as an example. Nokia was the first to test an RFID project in Finland. It affixes color-coded labels to mobile phone products via a commercial thermal printer, which is connected to the customer's shipping process system, and transmits the information to a secure web server via an intelligent code-reading board. In the material procurement process, Nokia's packages are unloaded in a warehouse in the United Kingdom, and a barcode reader automatically transmits the information to the mobile phone of the material manager of the Nokia branch.

In production companies such as HP set out to discover how RFID could help us in the actual manufacturing process. RFID ensures that they are using the correct components in their manufacture. Under the company's existing system, HP employees scan work-in-progress on the production line and then scan components to see if the two match. After the RFID tag is used, the correctness of the selected components is automatically guaranteed by verifying the serial code of the components. HP is also active in the Smart and Secure Trade Lanes initiative, a program created to secure cargo containers entering the United States after 9/11. The project uses active RFID technology to provide real-time visibility into the status, location and security of containers entering the port.

In corporate distribution and retail distribution, RFID has come into play from the moment goods leave the warehouse. As the truckload leaves the distribution center, the system scans the contents of the trailer, so store managers can track every shipment from the store's warehouse information system to know which shipments were shipped and when they arrived. When the trailer arrives at the store, it goes through another scan to see if anything is missing, so there is no need to check every trailer and actually count the cargo. Once the merchandise is on the shelf, the embedded RFID reader sends a message to the store's back-office system when there is a shortage of merchandise on the shelf, and the merchandise is replenished on demand, thus avoiding lost sales due to merchandise shortages.

In addition, the RFID reader can also track the sales speed of the goods and the best and worst selling items, and has a security anti-theft function. As long as the anti-theft function in the tag is activated, the sensor at the store exit can send an alarm message. , while at the checkout counter, the anti-theft program is automatically canceled. At the checkout, the tagged shipments go through one final scan and the inventory is updated. In addition, shoppers of the store can directly understand the products they want and get information about the products with the label immediately. In this way, choosing a DVD or CD is very simple, as customers can scan the product at any electronic convenience station in the store and choose to play a video or music clip.

Long wait times at the checkout have been a headache in the past. In new stores, RFID tags in shopping carts will tell store management how many shopping carts are in and out of the store, and if the number of shopping carts used in the store increases, more stations will be opened to meet the requirements of handling large numbers of customers.
