Barcode Scanner Manufacturer with development & Invention ability
Compared with other types of scanning devices, serial port code scanning devices have the following main differences:
Power requirements: The serial port scanner requires an external power supply. Although it has an internal power supply, it can be modified, while the keyboard port scanner and USB scanner do not require an external power supply. This power supply design makes the serial port scanner more stable under certain circumstances because voltage stability is guaranteed.
Scanning length: The scanning length of the serial port scanner can reach 60 meters (according to RS232 standard), which may be longer in actual use. In comparison, the scanning length of keyboard mouth scanners is between 1.5 meters and 5 meters, while the scanning length of USB scanners is between 1.5 meters and 3 meters. Therefore, the serial port scanner has obvious advantages in scanning length, and is especially suitable for situations where longer distance scanning is required.
Scope of application: The application scope of serial port scanner is very wide, including PC, POS, industrial computer, terminal, data terminal and other equipment. Other types of scanners may have a relatively limited range of applications.
Driver: Serial port scanners require serial port transmission drivers, while USB scanners usually use Windows support and Windows built-in drivers. The keyboard port scanner does not require a driver and is plug and play.
Input speed: The serial port scanner is relatively fast in terms of input speed, while the keyboard port and USB scanner are relatively slow.
In addition, the serial port is also called COM interface and RS232 interface. Its interface design adopts nine-pin style, so that the interface between the scanner gun and the computer is a nine-pin head. This design makes the serial port barcode scanner more stable than the USB interface scanner and can be widely used in harsh working environments such as industry.
To sum up, serial port code scanning devices are significantly different from other types of code scanning devices in terms of power requirements, scan length, application range, driver, input speed and stability. These characteristics give serial port code scanning equipment unique advantages in certain situations.
