Can a QR code measuring only 10 × 10 mm be read from 450 mm away? We tested the XT728MER to find out.

During the test, the QR code was placed approximately 450 mm from the scanner. Once triggered, the XT728MER located and decoded the code successfully.

This test shows why reading distance cannot be judged by code size alone. Actual performance is also affected by print quality, module size, contrast, lighting, mounting angle and scanner settings.

For equipment integration, testing with the actual barcode and working distance is always recommended. Samples can be evaluated before the scanner module is installed in a kiosk, production line or automated machine.

• QR code size: 10 × 10 mm
