A kiosk front panel may already contain a screen, printer, card reader and payment terminal. This often leaves very little space behind the barcode scanning window.

The XTIOT XT206H separates the camera from the main decoder board. The small camera section can be placed directly behind the scan window, while the decoder board is installed in another available position inside the kiosk.

This design is useful when:

• The scan window position cannot be changed

• A complete scanner module is too large for the space

• Other components block the area behind the front panel

• The decoder board needs to be mounted away from the camera

The XT206H uses a 1280 x 800 CMOS image sensor and reads common 1D and 2D barcodes from paper and mobile phone screens.

It can be integrated into payment kiosks, ticket machines, self-service terminals, smart lockers and access control devices.

Compared with a one-piece scanner module, the split structure gives the hardware designer more freedom when arranging components inside the enclosure.
