Barcode Scanner Manufacturer with development & Invention ability
Learn why a small QR code usually needs a shorter reading distance and how scanner resolution, lens and scan area affect OEM integration.
A barcode scanner sees a larger area as the distance increases. This helps when the barcode is large, but it can make a small QR code harder to read.
At a longer distance, a small QR code takes up fewer pixels in the scanner image. If the individual QR cells are too small in the image, the scanner cannot separate them clearly.
Moving the code closer makes it appear larger to the scanner. This normally helps with small QR codes, but the code must remain within the lens focus range. If it is too close, the image may become blurred.
A large QR code creates the opposite problem. If it is placed too close, part of the code may fall outside the scanner’s viewing area. The reading distance needs to be long enough for the complete code to fit inside the image.
Scanner resolution also changes the result. The XTIOT XT206M1 uses a 640 x 480 image sensor and is suitable for common printed barcodes. The XT206H1 uses a 1280 x 800 image sensor and provides more image detail for small or dense QR codes.
Before choosing an XTIOT scanner module, the barcode should be tested at its real physical size and required distance. The panel opening and installation position should also match the scanner’s viewing area.
A scanner cannot be selected by barcode type alone. The code size, reading distance, image resolution and lens must work together.
