Some projects need to collect passport or ID information away from a fixed service desk. Staff may work at an entrance, hotel reception, inspection point or temporary registration area.

The XTIOT XT8001D is an Android handheld terminal with built-in MRZ scanning. It reads the printed machine-readable zone on supported passports and ID documents, reducing the need to enter document information manually.

Hardware for Customer-Developed Applications

The XT8001D provides the handheld hardware and MRZ recognition function. After scanning, the recognized text is sent to the customer’s Android application.

XTIOT does not provide the registration, identity verification or database software. The customer develops their own application and decides how the MRZ data is checked, stored or uploaded.

The terminal also reads common 1D and 2D barcodes, allowing the same hardware to capture MRZ data, QR codes and ticket barcodes.

The XT8001D uses the MediaTek MT6765 processor and runs Android. It reads information printed on the document and does not read the electronic chip inside a passport.
