A normal camera can capture a passport image, but it cannot automatically send recognized MRZ characters to the customer’s software.

The XTIOT XT6996M recognizes the machine-readable zone inside the scanner module. It then transmits the complete recognized MRZ string to the customer’s software.

The scanner does not separate or identify individual fields such as:

• Nationality

• Gender

• Date of birth

• Document number

• Expiry date

These fields must be parsed and used by the customer’s software.
